New Zealand beaches are often recognised as the idyllic white sand, but the black sand beaches are less known in NZ. Today we travel from Taupo to New Plymouth in Taranaki, down the West Coast of NZ, in chase of some black sand.

Along the way is the Three Sisters and Elephant Rock, though sadly Elephant Rock had a bit of a tumble and his truck fell into the sea! The Three Sisters are easy to find, but hard to properly identify what's what, the black sand and waves are slowly swallowing them all up.

Further down into New Plymouth we get some brief views of Mount Taranaki, but fog cover is a pain in the butt, she was hidden from us from that point on.
