‘The heart of the city has been shattered’: Sydney business owner slams state government

A Sydney small business owner has slammed the Berejiklian government over its lack of support, saying the heart of the city has been “shattered and broken”.

Phillip Joel, who runs seven Kwik Kopy stores across Sydney, has put up giant posters in the window of his Elizabeth Street store, declaring the death of small business caused by a lack of financial support from the state government.

Mr Joel told Sky News host Peta Credlin he put the posters up because “going through normal channels is impossible”.

“You can make as many calls as you like, you get absolutely nowhere,” he said.

“I decided to do this because it’s the only way to speak up.”
