Lauterbrunnen is one of the most spectacular villages in Switzerland. You get the chance to explore a lot of gorgeous waterfalls if you visit Lauterbrunnen. These waterfalls originate from a very high plateau which is as much as 1,000 meters high at certain points. The fairytale village of Lauterbrunnen is located down the plateau in the valley area.

Lauterbrunnen is a 20 minutes drive from Interlaken and 1.15 hours from Lucerne. Further it is very well connected with public transport options such as trains and buses. We travelled to Lauterbrunnen in the month of June where the summer just kicked in.

One of the famous waterfalls here is Staubbach falls. It's the highest free falling waterfall in Switzerland with a height of 974 feet. Murrenbach falls is 1368 feet high and considered as the highest waterfall in Switzerland. These waterfalls are fed by melting ice in glaciers. So the water is freezing cold. Lauterbrunnen is known as the valley of 72 waterfalls.
