1st RECORDING OF: St. Louis Blues - Prince’s Band (1915 instrumental)

Charles Prince’s Columbia Records house band managed to squeeze three lively run-throughs of Handy’s famous song onto this 12-inch, four-minute, one-dollar disc.

The original 78rpm single was issued on Columbia A5772 - St. Louis Blues (W. C. Handy) played by Prince’s Band (under the supervision of G. Hepburn Wilson), recorded in NYC December 18, 1915
