Capacitor values are read differently for ceramic and electrolytic types.
Ceramic Capacitor: Uses a 3-digit code. The first two digits are the value, the third is the multiplier. For example, "103" means 10 * 10 ^ 3 = 10000 pF = 0.01 µF. Letters indicate tolerance (e.g., J = (plus/minus 5)% ) Voltage rating may be marked separately.
Electrolytic Capacitor: Values are written directly on the body, e.g., "1µF 25V" means capacitance = 1µF, max voltage = 25V. The polarity (+/-) is also marked.
