Rain chances Sunday in Charlotte before a dryer work week

An early-season Nor'easter will bring tidal flooding, beach erosion, wind, and rain along the coast. The worst conditions are expected on the Outer Banks, where overwash is likely in many areas along Highway 12, up to 3 - 5 feet.

It will keep it breezy all weekend long here locally with wind gusts 25-30 mph. Rain chances will be increasing overnight through Sunday afternoon with periods of rain expected.

There will be a potential for our most southern and southeastern counties to receive 1 - 1.5''+ of rain with around 0.25 - 0.5'' for everyone else. Regardless, the rain is extremely beneficial based on our current drought conditions across the Carolinas.

Lows Sunday dip into the upper 50s. Highs will only reach the mid-upper 60s again Sunday under a mostly cloudy sky.
