LAFD Nurse Practitioner 1

Los Angeles City Fire Dept. Nurse Practitioner 1 responding to a sick person on 84th St. & Western Ave.

Units due: Engine 57, Engine 65, Rescue 57, Rescue 821 & NP1.

Nurse Practitioner 1 is a trail program run by LAFD. It is a rescue staffed with a nurse practitioner and a firefighter / paramedic. The purpose of NP1 is to treat at scene and release the patient to free up hospital beds. However, this doesn't always work out and the on scene rescue ends up transporting (in this case, Rescue 821 transported to Centinela Medical Center). NP1 has the ability to give stitches, prescribe drugs, etc ...
