This Gujarati documentary film on Vishwamitri River is made by concerned citizens of Vadodara (Baroda)

Over the last many years, many concerned citizens, experts, groups, and organizations have been working individually and collectively on various issues related to natural and cultural assets of Vadodara city and its eco-region of Vishwamitri River watershed. Raising awareness about these assets, advocating measures to ensure that these assets are not threatened or diminished anymore, and developing alternative plans and designs that would protect and enhance such assets at all levels and for various reasons, are critical tasks that face the citizens of the Vishwamitri River system and Vadodara City.

Nature Walk Group, among others, is one such active and informal group of concerned citizens of Vadodara (Baroda). NWG members are greatly attached to the issues of environment and ecology and have taken routes every week to visit various places in and around Vadodara which have a direct impact on the lives of Barodians and well-being of the city itself. One of the most favorite destinations is the Vishwamitri River and its varied environs as they constitute the life-giving and enhancing assets of Vadodara city and the larger watershed. There have been grave concerns regarding the issues of debris dumping, waste disposal, pollution and untreated sewage release and a possible concertized river-front development project on this unique river.

However, things are changing and the experts and authorities alike have come together to revive the river. This initiative is poised to not only revive the river and its ecosystem, but to become a model of national and global significance.

NWG members, other concerned citizens, and experts --all nature lovers at heart-- felt that it is important to sensitize people about all this by making them aware of the past, present, and the future course of Vishwamitri River and Ecosystem Revival. Hence, all these people from different walks of life came up with this documentary film as a part of the larger movement to protect and enhance the natural and cultural assets of the Vishwamitri watershed and Vadodara city. This is with a dear hope that people will understand the importance of Vishwamitri in their own lives and for the very existence of Vadodara and its eco-region.
