There are two type of nouns in Urdu language. Masculine nouns and feminine nous. Both nouns have different rule to form singular to plural. Please keep in mind that all nouns in Urdu language have gender. Either a noun is masculine or feminine.
In English language, we have masculine and feminine only in living things. Like as Boy is masculine and girl is feminine. Whereas there is no specific gender for non-living things like as car, book, door etc. But in Urdu language there is specific gender for every noun.
There is no special rule to judge or find out that either a noun is masculine or feminine. You should learn one by one. However, mostly nouns end on “a” are consider masculine noun and the noun ends on “I” are consider feminine nouns. But this is not the final way to find out because many noun not ends on “a” or neither “i”. In this case, you need to remember one by one.
There is one more tip that if a thing has two size, the smaller one will consider feminine. For example, Headphone is masculine and hand free is feminine. The mountain is masculine and hill is feminine.
