Friday Morning Forecast for Baton Rouge 5-24-24
Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 8:50 am forecast. Good morning everyone and happy Friday. We've made it to the end of another work week. Hopefully the kids had a great school year and we're hoping that they have a safe and wonderful summer. We’ve had warm and humid weather all week, but the humidity will be a little higher this weekend. Skies will be partly cloudy and highs will be in the low to mid 90s. Heat index values will be in the upper 90s today. Heat indices will be in the lower 100s this weekend and on Memorial Day. Highs will be in the mid 90s this weekend and also on Memorial Day. Remember to drink plenty of water and don’t forget your sunscreen if you have plans to be outside a lot this weekend. But again, with the higher temps and higher humidity, it’s best to spend more time indoors than outside. Don’t forget to keep your pets cool and hydrated too. Also, double check the back seats of your cars. Don’t leave a baby, a kid or pets in a hot car. And don’t overexert yourself if you have an outdoors job. Hot weather will continue next week, but we’ll have a tiny break from the higher humidity. A weak cold front will move through on Tuesday. Memorial Day will be mostly dry, but there’s a slight chance of showers for that day. Isolated showers are possible during the afternoon and evening hours. And then the next round should move in late Monday/early Tuesday. There’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms for Tuesday. A few showers are possible again for Tuesday evening. N/NW winds will bring in drier air behind the front. This will help the dew points (humidity) to go down a tad bit. Again, it will still be hot and humid next week, but it will be a tad bit less humid after the passage of the front. Highs will still be in the low 90s next week. The cold front could possibly stall near our area as a stationary front. This will allow for continued showers and possibly t-storms too for Wednesday through Friday. As of now, we'll keep rain chances low, but of course they will be adjusted as needed. May is National Pet Month so pet pics will continue to be shown throughout the rest of the month.
