Funky Ford LTD Brougham | Charleston Boulevard Rod Run & Doo Wop | West Virginia Car Show
We’re in Charleston West Virginia to check out a really cool Rod Run & Doo Wop along the Banks of the Kanawha River. This town is full of incredibly low mileage classics, but one wild and scarce almost all original ride we couldn’t pass up is this blingin’ metallic gold 1976 Ford LTD Brougham. This oversized two-door came loaded with leather seats, factory 8-Track, and a 400 Big Block engine. The best part – it’s immaculate. Just wait until you see the care that has been taken to preserve this funky Ford.
But we start this show off with another awesome unrestored ride. This gorgeous 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V definitely stands out with its minty green color scheme and experimental styling. It’s amazing to see a Continental Mark V on the road at all, but finding one in this condition is absolutely remarkable.
Then Dennis finds a bad-to-the-bone ’72 Plymouth 340 Duster. Starting life as a 318 car, this low mileage Mopar was transformed into a high-powered 340 clone. With the way she looks, it’s hard to believe this Duster gets driven daily.
After that we head over to an early crossover vehicle that looks like a blast to drive through the hills of West Virginia. This 1949 Willys-Overland Jeepster was designed to move the company beyond their utilitarian vehicles and into the passenger automobile market. The Jeepster looked like nothing else on the road at the time, and they certainly stand out today. We’re glad this one made its way to the show!
Last but not least, the 1937 GMC Truck we tracked down was well worth the hunt. This showroom quality pickup is a time capsule of what it was like to be truckin’ in the late 30’s. Powered by an Oldsmobile Flathead 6-cylinder engine, this amazingly restored farm truck was a stylish yet rugged workhorse.
The Charleston Rod Run & Doo Wop really pulls in some wonderful cars, and it’s unbelievable how many seem to be low mileage originals. Combine these classics with the beautiful backdrop, and you’ve got an awesome car show. Enjoy this fun episode of My Classic Car!
