Tapping trees in NC for the first time to make maple syrup (and maybe hickory syrup too)
I’m running an experiment to see if it will be worth my time to tap trees and make my own maple syrup. I’m starting out with 5 taps and I’m trying maple, poplar, and hickory. As I continue to learn from this experiment, I’ll share more in Part 2 about which trees worked the best, some things I’ll do differently next time, and what my sugaring process will look like.
Have you tried to make maple syrup in North Carolina or somewhere else? Let me know in the comments!
