Arriving in the city of Como on a busy Saturday lunchtime, I made my way towards the village of Brunate to start a trail across the mountains to the famous town of Bellagio.

The common method of transport into Brunate is a funicular railway, however this was busy at the time and so I hiked to the top, with great views of Como below. I then walked out of Brunate, where the trail became more and more quiet, reaching Rifugio Capanna Mara with plenty of time to spare before sunset.

I found a great viewpoint with some flat ground nearby, tucked into some ham, cheese and Chianti, and enjoyed the sunset before hunkering down for the night.
