Western Railway Clears Illegal Encroachments Between Goregaon And Malad For Infrastructure Expansion

Western Railway on Monday carried out a major demolition drive between Goregaon and Malad to reclaim illegally occupied railway land following directions from the Bombay High Court. The operation successfully cleared around 1,500 square metres of crucial railway property by removing 36 hard encroachments and 24 soft encroachments.

To execute the drive, authorities deployed heavy machinery including three JCBs and three dumpers, supported by 80 railway staff and 258 personnel from the RPF, GRP, and Mumbai Police. Officials said the reclaimed land will be used for critical railway infrastructure development, future capacity enhancement, and safer rail operations. The move is also expected to help reduce trespassing incidents and improve overall passenger safety on the busy suburban rail corridor.
