Browning Extras - 1918M1 aircraft gun
The Browning 1918M1 machine gun was a conversion to fit on WW1 aircraft. It was lightened by removing the water jacket and made to fire faster by lightening the bolt, stronger recoil springs and a muzzle booster. The gun would fire about 900-1000 rounds per minute, and used metallic link belts. This short animations shows how it was integrated with a C.C. (Constantinesco-Colley) synchronising gear on a DH.4 aircraft.
