2023 Five Diamond Prelude will come down to luck and riding: Shayne O'Cass

Racing journalist Shayne O'Cass predicts the 1500 meter 2023 Five Diamonds Prelude will “come down to luck and riding.”

The Daily Telegraph reporter said last year’s winner Ellsberg went into the race as second pick behind Victorian, Ayrton.

“This is the second year that we’ve had the Five Diamond. Last year the race was won by Ellsberg who won the Epsom and then he went on to win the Five Diamond Prelude,” Mr O'Cass told Racing Dreams.

“So it will be interesting to see what happens this year.

“I think it’s an open field when you think back last year Ellsberg was a $2.80 favourite whereas this year it's probably $5 half the field so anything could really win it.”
