0:00 Welcome to the Best of Oklahoma Gardening!
Today on the Best of Oklahoma Gardening we are getting ready to do some spring clean up and cut back of the woody plants and trees in our landscape.

Host Casey Hentges is getting an early start to pruning our roses.
For more information about pruning different types of roses, check out this fact sheet: HLA-6403 Roses in Oklahoma

which can also be found on the osufacts.okstate.edu website.

16:55 Pruning Trees
Urban & Community Forestry Coordinator, Mark Bays, has some useful tips on how to prune our trees. We go over the 3-Cut Technique and the Tree Pruning Checklist: make sure to remove the dead material first, then the crossing branches before trying to open up the center of the tree. Remember, it is best to only cut about 20% -- 25% when pruning trees.
