How to Use Gold to Fix Your Favorite Glass #gold #sustainability #cocktailtime

Most people would throw broken glasses away, but today we’re fixing them and making them even better with gold 🪙! This is a 600-year-old technique called kintsugi, which dates back to a powerful shōgun named Ashikaga Yoshimasa… and it has recently seen a revival in the bar industry.

Aside from being an aesthetic way to highlight the history of a piece of glassware, kintsugi is also a practical way to save money by giving your glasses a second chance. This can be done in 6 easy steps 👇:

● Inspect: First, make sure your glass doesn’t have any cracks, as these could cause breaks down the line.
● Sand: Smooth the sharp edges to create a clean, even surface.
● Clean: Remove any dust or grease left on the glass to ensure a nice finish.
● Gold: Use food-safe gold paint and smooth strokes to cover the chip.
● Cure: Leave the glass to cure in an oven to harden the paint.
● Reveal: Your glass is now ready to use.

It’s that easy to honor the history of your glass—and if you ask me, it also makes for a great conversation starter the next time you serve a cocktail. Cheers 🥂!
