Gynostemma pentaphyllum also known as Jiaogulan, miracle grass, poor mans ginseng and southern ginseng is a powerful adaptogenic herb than man many ways, is superior to low grade ginseng. Although high grade adult ginseng is remarkably powerful, most people cannot afford it. This is where gynostemma comes into play. Gynostemma contains over 150 powerful compounds known as gypenosides. These gypenosides exert a strong adaptogenic effect on the entire body and are truly the power behind Jiaogulan. The herb effects all three treasures of TCM, the Jing, Shen, & Qi. Although I prefer high quality gynostemma, when I cant afford it I buy the cheaper, lower quality herb from Asian markets such as 99 Ranch.
