Walking Nathan Road, Kowloon, Part 1

Jan 2021

Nathan Road is *the* major commercial thoroughfare running north-south through Kowloon. This video is the first of a few that will travel from the southern end in Tsim Sha Tsui (we begin the walk on the corner of Nathan Road and Middle Road, at the northeast corner of the famous Peninsula Hotel). In this video we reach as far north as Austin Road, which is in the Jordan neighborhood of Kowloon.

On the way we pass the infamous Chungking Mansions, home to many restaurants, bars and electronic shops. We also pass Hong Kong's largest mosque, and one of five in the city. We also pass the oldest Anglican church in Hong Kong.

Nathan Road was originally called Robinson Road and was the first road built in Kowloon. It was later changed to Nathan Road to avoid confusion with Robinson Road in Mid-Levels. Enjoy, and I look forward to showing the complete walk over several more videos!
