How to photograph birds in low light. Capture less noise when using high ISO camera settings.

Early morning light is one of the best times to photograph birds. To photograph a moving subject in low light, you need to push your ISO much higher than normal to keep a fast enough shutter speed for a sharp bird image. However high ISO camera settings can also result in a lot of noise / grainy images. This video will show you techniques and camera settings I use to minimise grain due to a high ISO. All images shown in this video have been taken on a Canon 7D Mark II camera with ISO 2500. To shoot less noise, I expose to the right. In other words, I make the image as light as possible, while at the same time keeping as much detail in the bird as I can. I do this because noise is much more noticeable in darker images than lighter exposures. The last thing you want to do is underexpose an image when using high ISO camera settings.
