A Day on the CSX Sandpatch Grade

CSX's Keystone Sub is home to one of the east coast's premiere train watching locations: Sandpatch. This former B&O property draws many fans from across the country. With it's many curves, tunnels and hills, the Sandpatch Grade makes for some entertaining rail fanning. On a cloudy day in November, 2014, I paid a visit to the grade after hearing of possible reroutes due to congestion issues along the Water Level Route in Upstate New York. Those issues, combined with a massive winter storm, all but sealed the deal for me. While traffic was rather slow, I was able to capture several interesting consists, including two solid UP sets, lots of YN2 units and a leaser. So, sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds from CSX's Sandpatch Grade.
