Review of Liectroux B6009 robot vacuum cleaner with mop

First impressions are of a quality durable product, sophisticated in design and features, well-made and high specification with its navigation memory, voice prompts, mop with water tank, UV sterilisation of both floors and dust container and a battery-powered ‘blocker’ to keep it within a chosen area. It can be used on low-pile carpets, lino, tiles, laminate – almost any floor surface and can both sweep dust/dirt/grit/hair/fur/floor debris and has an additional mopping function for smooth floor surfaces. With its rugged, independently sprung traction wheels, it can adjust between surfaces, switching to or from carpet to tile without difficulty, can move from room to room and with its built-in memory, it gradually learns its way around, including back to its base for recharging (if in the same room) and avoids retracing its earlier route over areas already cleaned. When used on a landing, sensors on its underside prevent it tumbling down the stairs and a front sensor prevents it bumping hard into walls or furniture.

The B6009 can be used in a fully-automatic mode whereby is resides in its own docking station until it reaches the time/day it has been pre-programmed to begin cleaning. At this pre-set time, it leaves its dock and heads out cleaning then returns to, or close to, the docking station to recharge when the battery runs low after about 90 minutes of cleaning. This is the ideal mode for organising automated cleaning while you’re out so you can return home to freshly-cleaned floors. Alternatively, it can be run in manual mode whereby it can either reside in its docking station, or the charging cable plugged directly into the vac, and is switched on manually.

Set-up is simple. Just insert 2xAAA batteries (not supplied) into the remote control to set the time and date, then select times and dates for automated scheduled cleaning if desired. If smooth floors are to be mop-cleaned, then the mop attachment should be fitted and cleaning solution added to the tank. Everything is highly accessible and designed for ease of use right from the snap-on mop tank to the plastic brushes which are simple to remove and clean – even an on-board cleaning brush is supplied and the dirt container is the largest I’ve seen on a robot vac so it can run for longer without needing emptying. When emptying is needed this will be indicated via a voice prompt – a useful feature which also confirms when the vac is being charged or the battery needs recharging.

In terms of performance, the mopping feature is absolutely excellent and far exceeded my already-high expectations when used on lino, laminate and tiles. The vacuuming was also very good, sweeping up crumbs, dust, hair, fur and strands of hay scattered by our house-rabbit (who wasn’t even slightly bothered by its noise or movements). Not a single crumb or anything at all was left behind on tile, lino, laminate, slate or stone. When used on carpet, some fine crumbs and fur strands would remain and a further 1-2 passes-over would be needed. Note: it is designed for use on carpet with a pile up to 1cm and ours are 12-15mm so outside its specification.

The ‘Edge’ mode sends it along the edges of rooms and into corners and the arrow keys on the remote control unit can direct it sideways, forwards or backwards. Obviously, the cleaning standard isn’t as thorough as a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner or human-powered mop and bucket could provide but all visible dirt and fluff was lifted and all our floors have a clean and fresh appearance. We now only need to do a thorough vacuum monthly while this B6009 runs every 2-3 days, often overnight while we’re sleeping in the next room. It’s quiet (50dB), so doesn’t disturb us. As for mopping, we no longer do any manual mopping at all because the mop mode is so effective.

Having used several robot cleaners, I have been especially impressed by the design, features and performance of this Liectroux B6009, along with a full range of spares being available from Liectroux. I would not hesitate to recommend it and would very happily buy it again.
