CHILLS (HULLY GULLY) Frankie Stein and his Ghouls - semi-Famous Monsters of Music Land

"The Addams Family" and "The Munsters" were top TV shows at the time “Frankie Stein and his Ghouls” made FIVE albums for POWER RECORDS. PS, if you think old public domain garbage is just that, think again. Monetization on this crap belongs to somebody called "Merlin Symphonic Distribution on behalf of Compose Records." So it's nice to know a corporation is pulling in nickels and dimes, like opening a slot machine.
It's possible Frankie's stuff was advertised in the back of Famous Monsters of Filmland along with those weird R. Taylor POE albums, and “Panic Son of Shock” and Arch Oboler’s re-enactment of “Lights Out” horror stories?

Cameo-Parkway led John Zacherle into their vaults, and had him add fresh monster lyrics to a variety of their recent hit songs. They just wiped off the original vocals and Zachlery had a graveyard smash. POWER did sort of the same thing; they decided to re-vamp and vampire some of their low budget rock albums…ones that allegedly included the slumming talents of Sun Ra, The Blues Project and others. How about adding monster sound effects to them? And so they did.

People still love “classic horror,” especially if it has an element of humor to it, like “The Raven” starring Vinnie Price and little spook Peter Lorre, or “Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein” or the pun-filled “Famous Monsters of Filmland” magazine.
Sometimes somebody adds some new horror-comedy in the "old tradition.” Check out “Ha Ha Halloween.” (As Vinnie Price remarked during his cover version of “Monster Mash,” “It won’t hurt!” Go ahead. The album by comedy author and voice artist Ronald L. Smith includes a tribute to his pal Zacherly on "I Cremated Mabel.” Another highlight is “The Monkey's Paw" saluting all those teen agony songs like "Teen Angel" and "I Want My Baby Back." It features the ghostly voice of Susan Davies as Ron’s back-from-the-dead ghoul-friend.

It’s free, on YouTube, folks. Just type in "I Cremated Mabel" or "Monkey's Paw (Honey I'm Back)" or "Ronald L. Smith" top tracks. The real horror and comedy is Smith expecting a big royalty check on this stuff!
