This is the outhouse and bathroom in the backyard of the Springfield home of President Abraham Lincoln and his family. Lincoln paid $1,200 for this home from Reverend Charles Dresser and this is the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned. He lived here until he left for Washington to become our 16th president and never again returned to this home in life. After his assassination, his body was returned to Springfield where he was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery just outside of Springfield, Illinois.
