Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of OcraMed Health, demonstrates stretches and exercises for the piriformis muscle.
In a previous video, Dr. Joe demonstrated how to perform fascial release therapy for the piriformis muscle. Today, Dr. Joe continues discussing the piriformis muscle.
Tightness in the piriformis muscle can result in Sacro-Iliac joint pain, hip/glute pain, hip/glute tightness, low back pain and sciatic type symptoms.
The piriformis muscle is a pelvic stabilizer, as well as one of the six external rotators of the hip. It is a muscle that commonly builds up fascial adhesions and requires treatment.
Dr. Joe demonstates 3 different stretches and 5 exercises in this video. With consistent work, the tightness/pain in the piriformis muscle can often times be relieved.
