Kate Rudd (amateur jockey from Moneygall, County Offaly, Ireland) versus Trudy Ballantine (anesthesiologist from Edinburgh, Scotland but originally from Buckinghamshire)

Mark Whitehouse (streetlight electrician from Doncaster, South Yorkshire) versus Gary Johnson (Target Fitness personal trainer, sport therapist and masseur from Chestnut, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire)

Notes: Danger-Zone is played as an occasional event in this 3rd Heat and for both odd numbered episodes, this 2nd odd numbered episode, Heat and the next odd numbered episode, Quarter Final.

Suspension Bridge and Hit & Run are played on their last appearance as a split event: Suspension Bridge for the women and Hit & Run for the men at the 5th Event.

Mark is the brother of Andrew in the Whitehouse family. From 1997 Gladiators series, last year Andrew got through to the Gladiators series and beat 22,000 applicants and he was beaten in Heat 3 by a male contender whereas Mark is in this same heat in this 1998 Gladiators series.

The new Gladiator who joins the 1998 Gladiators Series is Diesel.
