BACKPACKING EL SALVADOR TRAVEL GUIDE | STREET FOOD AND VOLCANO CRATER LAKES | ANCIENT MAYAN RUINS!

We're backpacking through El Salvador, and you won't believe what we've found! Santa Ana's gigantic street market is a great place for some El Salvadoran street food, including some (very spicy) shrimp pupusas, and decadent elotes locos (crazy corn). We check out the stunning municipal theatre and catch a play, and learn about the patron saint of El Salvador, Oscar Romero.

We take a day to swim in the unparalleled Lake Coatepeque, a 50,000-year-old volcanic lake that will make your jaw drop! Finally, we go back in time to the ancient Mayan Ruins of Tazumal.
