Dog Play Styles

https://ferndogtraining.com/academy Dogs are all different and they have different personalities and play styles. And not all dogs will get along with one another and that's okay.

Dogs will look for playmates that match their energy levels and play styles. The more mellower dogs who don't get too excited won't want to play with the high energy dogs that play rough. They will be drawn to their preferred play style.

To tell if dog play is appropriate, look for lots of role reversals. One dog on top then the other - you don't want to see one dog always pinning the other. They should be constantly taking turns - one dog is being chased by the other and then they switch.

This keeps things friendly and healthy and ensures that both dogs are enjoying themselves without feeling threatened.
