COVID-19 update, Dec 22: Taiwan reports first locally transmitted case since April

Taiwan has reported its first locally transmitted COVID-19 case in eight months. 253 days without an infection has come to an end -- it was one of the world's longest runs without domestic transmission. The latest case is believed to have caught the virus from a New Zealand pilot. More than 100 contacts of the woman are being tested. Since April 12, Taiwan has only recorded about 300 imported cases. The island has a total of just 771 cases and seven deaths.
