Displaced and Starving: Victims of Armed Conflicts in Nigeria Cry for Help

As insecurity intensifies in the northwestern Nigerian region, every day thousands of people are forced to flee their towns and villages as they struggle to make ends meet away from their homes, businesses, schools, and social networks.

To them, life is driven by pain and sorrow as they live in extreme poverty while being exposed to acute hunger, health complications, and an extreme lack of basic necessities.

For a long time, stories of victims of armed conflicts and violence have been highly underreported, and displaced victims from southern Kaduna are one of them. 4000 internally displaced persons, mostly women, children, and aged men who fled from about 10 communities in southern Kaduna due to the atrocities of armed bandits and other terrorist groups, now live in Maraban Rido in Kudensa IDP camp in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. They are living with pain, trauma, and uncertainty about a better life.
