Drum Majors Mace flourish (spin) competition on the march during 2023 Oldmeldrum Highland Games
Drum Majors take part in their Mace flourish (spins & throws) competition, during the 2023 Oldmeldrum Sports and Highland Games. These were held at Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on Saturday 17th June 2023. Taking part were Ronnie Rennie, Bill Barclay, Derek Dean and Bert Summers.
Kintore Pipe Band were playing for the competition and the tunes were "Farewell to the Creeks" and "Leaving Port Askaig". This was the first part of the Drum Major competitions, which includes the Mace (thrown) over the banner competition.
Drum Major Bert Summers is a well respected Drum Major who was 79 years young at these Games and decided for his own safety to just march.
