Dorze tribe | ዶርዜ - Exploring southern Ethiopia and their elephant shaped homes.

This week my friends and I went high up in the Guge Mountains, northwest of Arba Minch, to see the cold and cloudy Dorze territory. The Dorze people are a small ethnic group inhabiting the Gamo Gofa Zone (formerly part of the North Omo Zone of the Southern regions of Ethiopia.

Dorze people are famous for their towering homes and fine cotton weaving.
They make traditional colorful textiles and its their primary profession.

Experiencing a cultural immersion in a Dorze village is one of the highlights of any trip to southern Ethiopia – not to mention the journey up here, which affords some spectacular views over Arba Minch and the Rift Valley lakes.
Traveling with friends also made it really special and I think you all should try it!

We are continuing our trip down the south to Konso on the next episode!
