Learn how Bobby Axelrod from showtimes hit show billions used the 48 laws of power and some strategies to become a billionaire. Stay tuned and learn how to use these methods for your own benefit.
Bobby Axelrod is the enigmatic billionaire from the hit show Billions. He leads one of the most successful hedge funds in the nation and without question leads the life we all wish we could have.

His upbringing, however, wasn't an easy one and unlike most billionaires is truly self-made. Like all successful people in a cutthroat industry, he is no stranger to the game of power. For in the game of power you either become competent or you will be left behind.

Today we are going to be discussing the many personality traits and laws of power that Axelrod consciously or unconsciously used to become the billionaire he is at the start of the show.

Before we get started however there will obviously be season 1 spoilers throughout this video so if you haven't seen season 1 of billions you might want to click away.

00:51 Law 19: Know Who You're Dealing With Don't Offend the Wrong Person - Axelrod grew up on a rough side of town with very little money and his father was abusive to him and his mother. Hard times either break you down or build you up and Axelrod eventually found his passion in horse betting and other businesses but he never forgot his resentment for his father or anyone for that matter.

03:41 Law 3: Conceal Your Intentions - Before Axelrod was a billionaire and CEO of axe capital he worked at a different unnamed hedge fund company which would later become axe capital. This company was unfortunately located in the world trade center when the towers were hit.

05:52 Law 29: Plan all the way till the end - Axelrod doesn’t only take opportunities when they arise but he also plans all of his moves to the very end. This undoubtedly was a key contributing factor in his rise to power before and after the events of 9/11. We constantly see Axelrod getting the advantage over people by simply being one step ahead.

As we saw in season 1 episode 3 Axelrod is trying to get onto the board of yumtime and he does this by going around the executives and letting them believe they have a chance of overruling him.

When in reality he knew from the start he was going to get what he wanted because he was very prepared and had made allies.

08:00 Law 15: Crush your enemy totally - The quality of always looking to get even with people and being as relentless as Axelrod hasn't always hindered him and in fact is another aspect of his great success. Axelrod may never forget a slight but when he decides to act on it he does it in the most efficient and effective way, by destroying his enemies completely. The foresight to destroy your enemies completely is a very effective strategy and one that was written about extensively by the Chinese strategist Sun Tzu in 5 BC and more recently by Robert Greene in modern times.

Being willing to destroy people completely is a ruthless way of managing your foes but it is ultimately the most effective strategy and will prevent such pests from coming back later when they have grown stronger themselves.

Acting in such a manner also spreads stories of these actions which prevent new enemies from thinking twice of crossing you, ultimately sparing you the effort.

A great example of this is seen in season 1 episode 2. Axelrod has just fired Victor because he was flagged during the fake compliance audit and Wendy advises Axelrod that due to Victor's personality type and the way he was let go, he has a high likelihood of going scorched earth on Axe capital.

Wendy is correct in her assumption about how Victor feels about the situation and tells him a story about a time Axelrod blackballed and kept a former associate from ever finding work again simply because he bad-mouthed Axelrod in an interview.

Axelrod has utilized the 15th law of power in such a way that just his reputation is enough to make people think twice about crossing him. Because they know if they do he won't stop until their spirits are crushed.

There are many more laws of power that Axelrod uses besides the 4 I mentioned in this video. This has just been a couple of the main ones that have been tremendously helpful in shaping Axelrod into the billionaire he is now.

Bobby Axelrod is a modern-day strategist and a dark triad personality type, like many successful people.

He knows how to play the game very well and Because of this he has reaped the rewards and is living lavishly. He still has many pitfalls and most people wouldn't consider him a good person, but as mentioned earlier, power is amoral and everyone can learn from Axelrod and any other successful person. Werther, they are good or bad.

Let me know down in the comments if you would like to see more ways power and strategy are used in Billions and be sure to subscribe. Thank you.
