Here's how to play "Decades" from the album "Closer" by Joy Division on guitar

This song is basically Dm and C/E the entire time.

The reason C/E sounds better is to imitate the bass part. A regular C would sound good too. Also, it sounds better to just strum parts of the chords and not the full chords, which otherwise become too bright.
