My battle with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
March 9, 2018 I felt my first symptoms of Guillain Barre Syndrome.
March 13, I was admitted into the hospital and I never left for 7 weeks. I was given 5day dose of IVIG.
March 17, I was paralyzed from the face down.
March 18, I lost the ability to breath on my own and was intubated for 11 days.
March 27, I was given a 2nd round of IVIG.
March 29, I wiggled my toes.
April 1, I moved my arms and wiggled my toes.
April 3, I lifted my head.
April 5, 2018 I went to rehab and started the process of learning to walk again.
April 25 I walked on my own.
Today is May 13, 2018. 2 months since my first symptoms. GBS is a weird Syndrome. The time it takes each to recover varies. My case, I went down quick, but I also went up just as fast. Once I was able to see , I looked up other cases of GBS and I really do feel blessed.
GBS is a horrible thing to get and experience. One day you’re living your life and the next, you’ve lost complete control of it. Cherish life and everything you have in it. Don’t take anything you have for granted, not even breathing.
If you find you’re going through it... stay strong.
~You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
