Dirtumentary: The Story of Alice In Chains (The Layne Years)

The first time I recall hearing Alice In Chains was on an Episode of Beavis and Butthead. Those 2 gave AIC the stamp of approval on the show (as seen in the intro of this documentary) as did I. That haunting sound matched Layne's vocal power flex like peanut butter and jelly.
I was 11 when the Seattle scene broke. The music of Alice In Chains, and their "grunge" brethren (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Stone Temple Pilots, etc) was the soundtrack to my youth. As I look back on it now, how incredibly lucky were us 90s kids? We got to not only watch, but experience this musical revolution. The likes of hadn't been seen since Beatlesmania swept the globe. Suddenly the musical landscape, television, movies, and even the fashion runways changed. The 80s cheap metal met its exodus in favor of the toned down noise coming from the land of the Supersonics.

This film is a look at the incredible accomplishments Alice In Chains were able to achieve with Layne Staley as their front man. It's about the music, and only the music. If youre looking for rumors, hearsay or speculation you won't find it here. The story told is by the band, friends, and associates via audio and video clips that I've collected throughout their entire career. I feel very confident that this documentary accurately depicts the musical career of Alice In Chains.

Dirtumentary will premiere on Layne's birthday (August 22nd) it debuts right at midnight est, so Friday night into Saturday morning it will be available to watch. Please like, comment, and share this video 🤘
