BMW 535i (F10/F11) Cabin Air Filter Replacement

Join me while I install a new cabin air filter in a 2014 BMW 535i (F10). This video applies to all 2011 to 2017 BMW 535i’s. It may also apply to other BMW’s as well.

UPDATE: We have received feedback (good and bad) about disconnecting the battery in this procedure. We’d like to point out the lower cover you need to remove to access the HVAC assembly is integrated with the passenger knee airbag. We take a cautious approach in our work to prevent injury while handling the knee airbag assembly which is removed as part of this procedure. The replacement involves working in a small space and we'd prefer to not have a potentially live airbag near someone's head.

WARNING: This service requires the removal and installation of an airbag. If not handled correctly, you can be severely injured. We recommend disconnecting the battery to the car and to carefully handle the airbag unit to prevent accidental deployment of the airbag. Handle with care. If you are uncomfortable handling automotive airbags, do not attempt this service.

The service is challenging for the first time working on this vehicle. Estimate 1 hour working slow or it is your first time performing this type of work. If you have done similar work before, estimate 30 minutes.
