The Sewing Room: How to Sew A Mock Fell Seam

Welcome to our Mini-Series on Seams! Over the next few weeks I'll share with you my favorite kinds of seams and why I choose them.

In this video I explain how to sew a Mock Fell seam -

Mock Fell seams are a great way to sew a seam while concealing the raw edges on the inside. On a Mock Fell seam you will see a single row of topstitching on the outside and two rows of stitching on the back side (the opposite if you start by sewing wrong sides together first). This is a strong and very stable seam with pretty stitching. Done neatly, one could use a contrasting thread for a nice effect.
These seams are great for Jeans, men's shirts and other seams where you want a nice topstitch as well as concealed raw edges.
