My Teacher Evaluation Lesson Activity Vlog
Let me show you the lesson activity my students participated in during my fall semester teacher evaluation. Teachers in my district have 2 formal (45-minute) observations, which we are scored, and three informal observations (10 minutes each, which do not count against our overall summative score).
I've highlighted this activity before (2017), which you can view here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5utOKa3Avs
That video highlights my initial journey into utilizing Blended Learning Stations. There were more mishaps and frustration during that time, but I've learned much since then. Therefore, if you want a glimpse into that and more information on the stations, check out that vlog (again, the link is posted above).
I used this activity for my fall formal evaluation last year for a couple of reasons (1) to allow my evaluator and I to compare year-to-year, and (2) the concept(s) in this station set is tested on my SLO (student learning objective), which is tied to my overall summative score. I was actually audited a few years ago because my students did well. Therefore, my evaluation contains documented evidence of how I engage, support, and challenge my students as they work toward proficiency (in the learning goals).
I regularly incorporate Blended Learning Stations, Escape Rooms, and other collaborative activities that provide various learning modalities in my classroom. It isn't something I do just for an evaluation (i.e., dog & pony show). Therefore, if you plan on doing something like this for an observation, please ensure your students have experience doing these stations.
