Hurricane Zeta Nears Landfall in Mexico

Zeta has become a hurricane in the Caribbean Sea today as confirmed by recon aircraft and could intensify further during the next 6-8 hours before making landfall in Mexico near Cozumel and Cancun, where hurricane warnings are already in place ahead of the storm's approach. Hurricane Zeta will then enter the Gulf of Mexico and turn northward, with minimal change in strength expected, and will most likely make landfall in Louisiana late on Wednesday. Due to Zeta's current rate of intensification, it is now expected that Zeta will be a hurricane when it makes landfall in the United States later this week, and watches may be issued later today.
