The Force of Muscle Contraction
Muscles work by contracting, or in simpler terms, shortening. When the muscle shortens up, it will pull the bone it is attached to and movement happens. But how come some contractions are stronger than the others? What are the factors that affect the force of muscle contraction?
In this video, we will discuss 4 factors affecting the force of muscular contraction: the number of the muscles, the size or the length of the muscles involved the frequency or strength of stimulus, and of course, the degree of muscle stretch.
