The Virtual Ed Sullivan Show – FULL EPISODE (05/18/1998) [UPN]

Wow! Alright, so, just to give you some context, this was a failed attempt at something I can only imagine we'll see being tried again soon enough with how technology is advancing.

Long before the demand and increased use of AI, deepfakes and holograms at Coachella were being presented and tested for their performances. On May 18th of 1998, two different Ed Sullivan specials featuring a CGI version of Ed Sullivan were aired on two different networks, with this being one of those specials that aired. This is the one UPN premiered for its network.

This one and only episode of The Virtual Ed Sullivan Show was taken from a recording that came from a rip on UPN 38 WSBK in Boston. Basically, the ratings for this show were so bad that they tried to act like this special never happened, and to this day, they refused to acknowledge it or show the episode themselves on any online platform or TV channel.

Up until now, there has only been one performance clip uncovered from this episode. I'm so proud to be sharing this full episode of cursed lost media with you all on YouTube for the first time ever. This was digitized from a 1st generation tape that was bought from a collection that belonged to someone on eBay.
