Dallas Zoo's New Sumatran Tiger Explores With Confidence

With GoPros mounted and our cameras ready, we captured our new Sumatran tiger Manis’s first thrilling moments in his new habitat last week. This is the largest habitat Manis has explored in 10 years! He inspected his new home with tons of enthusiasm and confidence. This 283-pound 11-year-old comes to us from the Kansas City Zoo.

Manis is here on a breeding recommendation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Sumatran Tiger Species Survival Plan. Today, there are more tigers living in human care than there are in the wild. For Sumatran tigers alone, fewer than 400 cats still roam their native land.
