KHADC staff protest downgrade to casual status, demand fairness

Around 27 KHADC employees met Chief Executive Member Shemborlang Rynjah on Tuesday, seeking clarity on an Executive Committee order that downgraded them to casual workers despite their earlier regularisation.

The affected employees told reporters that some had also been dismissed by the current EC. They expressed disappointment, saying the CEM rejected their appeal for reinstatement, stating they had no future in the council.

The employees further criticised the council for its lack of transparency, pointing out that vacancies within the council have not been publicly advertised for many years.

They argued that if fairness is to be upheld, then all employees should be dismissed, as none had been recruited through a formal or competitive selection process.

Calling the move arbitrary and unjust, the employees urged the authorities to review the decision and ensure a more equitable and transparent approach to employment within the KHADC.
