Stretching Watercolor Paper – 6 Frequently Asked Questions

There is tons of information about stretching watercolor paper and not all of it agrees. I try to cut through the clutter and make sense of all the varying methods to give you my best advice on the key steps.

This video shows the most common method but can be unreliable. Add staples for more complete, secure stretching. Tape can also stretch or fail altogether if paper pulls away from the tape.
