Canal Walks | Walking the Trent and Mersey | Bridge 68 in Rugeley to Bridge 70 at Wolseley Bridge

Welcome to the fifth video in the ‘Canal Walks Series’.

I am fortunate enough to have lived very close to the Trent and Mersey canal in the heart of Staffordshire all of my life. I enjoy walking and what better place to walk than along the many miles of beautiful canals we have.

There are many videos showing the canal from the boaters perspective but not as many from the walkers perspective as we negotiate the towpath and enjoy the stunning scenery, so that is what I am hoping to do with these “Canal Walks’ videos.

These will be occasional videos featuring short walks along the canals in my part of the world and who knows, maybe even a bit further afield.

The walks will all be presented in real time with no editing or overlaid soundtrack. The walks will be filmed in no particular sequence and I aim to film them at different times of the year for a changing perspective of the landscape.

In this fifth walk, we begin where we left off at the end of the fourth walk, at Bridge 68 on the outskirts of Rugeley. This part of the walk will take us on to the more quiet and rural section towards Wolseley Bridge, which is our destination today at Bridge 70. The River Trent shadows us for the final part of this walk. Apologies for the wind noise at the start of the video.

If you would like to try this walk for yourself, the total distance is approximately 1.r miles and took me around 30 minutes to complete at an average walking pace.
