Most Expensive Dog Breeds EVER

Man’s best friend hasn’t always been man’s best friend! It’s open to debate, but dogs were thought to be domesticated in Europe around 15,000 years ago. There’s another theory that suggests it happened in Central Asia or China 12,500 years ago. It’s now believed that it could have happened twice. These days man’s best friend can also cost man quite a lot of money, and today we look at some of the more expensive pooches around.

11) Give a dog a bone…
These beautiful dogs are known as Cavalier King Charles Spaniel’s and although they do love a good pampering, these energetic guys love to hunt and play outdoors as well. They’re perfect for companionship, and the price of $1,200 is nothing compared to the copious amount of love you’ll receive from yours. They don’t like to be alone for a long time and actually suffer from separation anxiety, so only get one if you’re going to be available most of the time.
10) Who let the dogs out?
This breed of dog is exceptionally rare in the USA, known as Azawakhs, they were bred to hunt and guard by nomadic tribes. They’re costly, because they’re very expensive to import. The minimum cost for one is $3,000 and these canines can reach speeds of 40 mph, which is even faster than a greyhound. Note – they need tons of exercise, so if that doesn’t appeal to you – perhaps stick the to the bulldog!
9) Hound Dog…
This is a Saluki and this graceful, beautiful dog will have you shelling out around $2,500 to own one. They’re very strong, excellent hunters and are known as sight hounds. They can live to be 14-years old and come in a variety of colors, from brown to tan, white to black and anything in between.

8) Something to bark at...
An Afghan Hound is very distinctive, and you won’t miss it when you spot it. They have hair better than most people I know! You can get one of these dogs for $2,000 but expect to pay around $65 every time you get it groomed. Imagine the amount of product and time needed to make him look his best! Over his 14-year life span, vet bills will usually amount to $2,900.
7) Good Boy…
These Chinese Crested Hairless dogs are most certainly not the prettiest, but they sure make up for it when it comes to price! They cost around $5,000 each! They only have a single coat of fur, and they were created to be a companion for invalids. They’re apparently very good at picking up signals from their owners, and will lie still for hours with them, should they need to. His love is eternal and he’s worth the investment.
6) Home is where the dog is…
There is an Irish proverb that best describes an Irish Wolfhound, and it goes as follows: “Gentle when stroked, fierce when provoked.” These dogs go for anything from $1,500 to $2,000 and they’re one of the tallest dog breeds. They were bred to help in the war by literally dragging men off their horses and chariots, just to give you an idea of the size of them! They’re excellent family pets and are easily trained.
5) Ruff Times...
Only if you’re desperate for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, but can’t afford one! Their average price is $1,500 and they’re the most loving dogs to have in a home and particularly idolize children. Like any strong dog, they do need to be trained. They’ll be a part of your life for the better part of 14-years, and if you give loads of love, walks and food, you’ll be rewarded with his unwavering loyalty.
4) All bark and no bite…
This is a Canadian Eskimo Dog and they come with a hefty price tag. Thought to be the oldest and rarest pure-bred dog in North America, they will cost up to $6,000 for one. Powerful, athletic and an excellent guard dog, are but a few of their exceptional qualities. Oh, and exceptionally cute too!
3) My kids have paws…
You’ll be treating your Bedlington Terrier just like you would your kid, especially since they cost $1,800 each! In the long run, their medical bills are rather substantial at around $3,700. They’re easy going dogs though, highly intelligent and can live up to 16-years! They’re quite small too, so if you live in an apartment, you won’t need to feel guilty about having a small space for your beloved pet!
2) Can we keep him?
French Bulldog’s are totally adorable and at $2,000 for one – you’d hope that’s not all they have going for them! They’re great for city living – bonus, don’t need loads of exercise – double bonus and will smother you with love – triple bonus! They live on average 12-14 years.
Take my money…
By far the cutest puppy on our list today is the Pomeranian Toy Puppy also referred to as a Teacup Pomeranian, for obvious reasons. Thanks to the likes of Paris Hilton and Kelly Osbourne, these little dogs soon became the must-have fashion accessory. These little pups have two coats of hair and require grooming every day. For one of these furry critters, you’ll pay $1,000 plus, but do note – the smaller the pup, the higher the price tag!
