How I Practice The Violin - A Framework for Those Who Are Busy

www.thepracticejournal.com
Hey Guys!
I wanted to share with you all how I practice these days, and the kind of framework I use to try and keep myself focused!

I start practicing at 10:00
I'll be the first to say that when I start playing - I am just warming up and in this particular practice session I was focusing a lot on my right hand. Hence my shifts sounded pretty horrendous.....
BUT - That's why on reflection I added that tomorrow I will work on lightening my shifts! (P.S. the problem was tension in my thumb in the left hand... which I wrote down so I won't forget).

I didn't end up including my whole practice session, but the first 40 minutes was technical things, starting from slow scales to slow practice of arpeggios in the Sarasate.

Then I spent about 1 hour tackling the Sarasate using methods such as rhythm, accent and slow practice. I also performed for a peer and got some feedback.

Then I did about 20 minutes of playing through at the end of the day just to get the feel for things. I wish I recorded how I sounded at the end of the day... it sounded much better than the warm up shown in this video...
