Growing Citrus In The Carolinas And The South

I visited McKenzie Farms in Scranton, SC, to pick up some very rare and unique, cold hardy citrus trees that I will be planting directly in-ground in my Zone 8 climate with minimal protection. Some hardy varieties I picked up were an Owari Satsuma and a Red Lime grafted to a Trifoliate Orange rootstock, a small Trifoliate Orange ornamental plant, a Moro Blood Orange (which must be container grown in my climate) and a Pineapple Guava tree, which can also be planted directly in-ground in a southeastern Zone 8 climate. Follow along on my journey to have a backyard citrus farm in North Carolina!
